Introduction

The beginning of a forty day fast fills me with both excitement and anticipation. There is this wonderment at how God will move through the time set aside to commune with Him in such an intentional way, outweighing the dread of sacrifice that accompanies it. In that anticipation, it is easy to place our own expectations of how we think God should move. While we should be expectant, the Bible is clear that we see in part and God sees in whole. All the repercussions of a yes, a no, or wait, are known to God. God cares about so much more than we can see or perceive. His ways and his timing are perfect.  This year the fast begins with a time of surrender. We are highlighting the areas we have sensed God wants to move through the devotion topics, but they are far from comprehensive. We encourage you to use each day as an invitation to explore any area of your life that God may be asking you to surrender to him in seeking breakthrough over the next 40 days. We anticipate for the fast to be a rich, intimate time with the Lord and we are praying for you!
