Day 17

Week 3, Day 17: Breakthrough in Our Spiritual Growth So We Can Walk in God’s Authority and Power with Integrity and Humility
2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”
In this verse, we read the call of the Apostle Peter to grow and mature in understanding of two
things. The first is that God’s grace freely gives us the gift of salvation from the penalty of sin.
The second is that His mercy allows us a personal relationship with him. Both of these are made
possible through Jesus Christ.
Our acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice places us in the role of a citizen of the kingdom of God. At
the very same instant, we begin to understand more clearly each day that we are completely
and utterly dependent on Him. The more we know Jesus, the more undeniable it is that to
become what He has planned for us requires more than we could ever have. He dresses us in
his righteousness, and we are held in moral wholeness because of His strength.
At the same time, He knows we are human and thus frail. At these times, we need to ask for forgiveness and to be restored. God knows us and is ready to help us to stand again. Unlike some authorities, God is interested in seeing you succeed in the good work He started in you on the day of your salvation decision. God is preparing us to be the best reflection of who He is, to move in his power and with the authority of the ruler of the universe. We bow down and honor Him in all our ways, because we are aware of our total dependence on Him. We request all things in His name because He controls every atom. He is the source of any and everything we need. Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. He is the source of all our production. That is key. It is only when we remain in relationship with Him that we are productive and able to do anything.
Whatever your age or how long you’ve been in a relationship with Jesus, you are still a work
in progress. We need to remember that spiritual growth is an ongoing process that will
continue our entire lives. Let God’s ongoing work progress and our response be obedience.
Listening Prayer: Holy Spirit, when have I stopped studying your word and slowed down the work of the Holy Spirit to transform me? When have I stopped making it a priority to remember each day that the reason I am here is to reflect your love to the world? How do I need to re-align with you?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for being the source for all of my needs. Help me to gain a
greater understanding of your grace and the loving mercy during each day. Help me to focus on
your desire to make me more like you.Help me to walk in integrity and humility as I rely on you. I am so thankful that you are faithful to continue to perfect me, no matter how many times I fall. Help me to respond with obedience and trust your strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
