Susan McCrea

Susan McCrea and her husband, Martin, live in the Sacramento suburb of Fair Oaks, where they raised their seven children. After Martin’s retirement from the State as a computer programmer, they have served as pastoral counselors at several churches and have been part of the staff at Oasis Christian Ministries in Rancho Cordova for over twenty years.

Susan loves to write! During her youth, she had many opportunities to practice this skill at her San Francisco school, Convent of the Sacred Heart, during junior high and high school. In her senior year she became the first editor of their small newspaper, “The Echo.” Her teachers, cloistered nuns who remained in the convent during the week and weekends, corrected numerous pages of essays. She is grateful for their faithful sacrifice that helped hone her love of written communication. It gave her a strong foundation to thrive at Dominican College (now called Dominican University) in San Rafael for two years, to survive a history major at UC Berkeley, and later to acquire an elementary teaching credential at Lone Mountain, which is part of the University of San Francisco.

After 2010, she returned to writing and began her adoption story, My Hidden Identity: A Late Discovery Adoptee’s Search for Self—her first book. It came out on Amazon in late October of this year. She also has had inspirational articles published in local anthologies, sponsored by Inspire Christian Writers—Inspire Faith, Inspire Forgiveness, Inspire Joy, and Inspire Promise. Guideposts accepted “Heaven’s Portal”—the poignant and uplifting story of what happened after the untimely death of their daughter Christianne in 2010. It is found in the Guideposts book, In the Arms of Angels (2021). Their $50 check for that article made her a published author!

Susan hopes My Hidden Identity will touch those who have had an identity crisis like her, people in the adoption community, and others who just enjoy an exciting true story that changes lives. As an abortion survivor, she is a testimony to God’s resurrection power and transformation.

She would like to share more of the beautiful incidences of God’s loving interventions in her life through articles, books, and opportunities to speak. You can connect to her at susan@susanmcrea.com, her website at www.susanmcrea.com, or her Facebook Author Page, “Official Susan McCrea Page.”
