Tonia Colleen Martin

Tonia Colleen Martin – One of my first writing assignments involved writing biographies for wheelchair athletes. Themes of abandonment, misidentification, PTSD, attachment disorders and dissociation subtly weave through my work. I write, paint and garden. I have been trained by Amherst Writers and Artists to teach generative writing workshops. I was a guest instructor at The Genesis Center in Paris, France. My work has appeared in Makoto Fujimura’s Cultural Care Newsletter; ARTS: The Arts in Religious and Theological Studies; Metonym, Ruminate Magazine, and Vita Poetica. I’ve written and illustrated five prose-poem gift books for adults: About Face; Intents & Purposes; Rest – An Invitation to Freedom, The String Theory Beginning with Me, and Having Tried Everything. Remember, a 10,000-word novella, essentially a primer on reconciliation and healing, is my most recent publication. I have been trained by Amherst Writers & Artists to lead generative writing workshops and was a guest teacher at The Genesis Center in Paris in conjunction with Trinity International Church. My painting: Spring Fever won Best of Show at the Blue Line Gallery: Membership Medley. I received the Sierra College Hallberg Merit Award for Art.
