In this Fatih & Culture series, Pastor Lance Hahn leads us through an in-depth study of issues related to gender and sexuality. Through biblical analysis and engagement with the latest research, this series will help you better understand the LGBTQ community, better understand God’s heart when it comes to sexuality and gender, and better understand how Christians can best minister to the LGBTQ community.

SESSION 1 : SETTING A NEW PARADIGM – UNDERSTANDING HOMOSEXUALITY

In this opening session, Pastor Lance Hahn defines key terms, provides a historical look at the statistics and history of the LGBTQ community, and presents a helpful same sex attraction continuum. This lays the foundation for the rest of the conversation.

SESSION 2 : SEEKING THE HEART AND MIND OF GOD – A BIBLICAL EXAMINATION

In this session, Pastor Lance addresses the biblical examination of homosexuality and what God’s created intent is for us. We also look at a balanced biblical view on sexuality and how God deals with brokenness and sin.

SESSION 3 : ENGAGING WITH A NEW ERA – GENDER IDENTITY GOD MATTERS MOST

Disclaimer: This is the newest and least understood part of our discussion.

In this session, Pastor Lance covers the topics of gender identity, transgender phenomenon, the impact of current legal LGBTQ issues and the bigger picture of identity. We also look at the importance of gender and how to rethink gender stereotypes.

SESSION 4 : A HEALTHY AND PROPER CHRISTIAN RESPONSE – WHAT DO I DO?

In this session, Pastor Lance goes through how we can take the information we’ve learned and figure out what to do with it. We also discuss how we can minister more effectively and appropriately. As a Christian, what is the proper response for us to have? This is complex and complicated, but we are sorting things out together.
