Questions for the Heart and Spirit 1) When you are given an opportunity to serve, what is your response? Do you ever give others an opportunity to serve you, or do you turn them down? 2) What is the purpose of serving others from God’s point of view? What does it do for them? What does it do for you? 3) Are you able to keep confidences? All the time, most of the time, some of the time or never? Are you tempted to share, as a prayer request? 4) When someone asks you to pray for them, do you follow through? How about items which come over the prayer chain? How long do you pray? Questions for the Mind 1) Read: Ex 12:1-14; Matt 26:1-2; Jn 12:1,12,23; 13:1 Why do you think Jesus chose Passover to go to Jerusalem, when He knew the city would be crowded with people? What connection was there between Jesus and Passover besides that he was a Jew? 2) Read: Ps 22:13; 113:7; Pr 19:17; 22:9; Matt 19:21; 26:11; Lk 4:18 What was Jesus attitude toward the poor? What example did he give to us relative to the poor? What is our responsibility? 3) Read: Gen 6:5-6; 1 Sam 15:35; 1 Sam 20:33-34; Matt 17:22-23; 26:36-38 Who was grieving in these scriptures? Why were they grieving? Were they all grieving for the same reason? What does it mean to grieve? Application Spend some time researching how the Passover is celebrated today. Why is it also called the Feast of Unleavened Bread? Matthew 26:40 indicated that Jesus went away to pray for one hour and returned to find the disciples sleeping and was very disappointed. Spend an hour in prayer, so you might gain a new appreciation of their condition.
