Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
There is no name in all of creation with more authority, more power, and more victory than the name of Jesus. It is not just a word we say; it is the name of the risen Savior who conquered sin, death, and every work of the enemy.
When Jesus walked the earth, demons trembled at His presence (Luke 4:33-36) and he cast them out with a word (Matthew 8:16). Jesus gave that same authority to His followers:
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
This means we are not powerless spectators in spiritual warfare—we are empowered representatives of Jesus Christ. That same authority given to the early disciples is still active for believers today—not because we are strong, but because He is.
When the enemy tries to bring fear, temptation, confusion, or oppression into your life, you can stand in the delegated authority of Jesus and command the enemy to leave. The enemy has to obey because the name of Jesus is not just a sound—it’s backed by His position as the risen and reigning King. You can stand firm and say:
“In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave me. You have no place here. I belong to Jesus.”
It’s important to remember that this isn’t a magical formula; it’s about relationship. The sons of Sceva in Acts 19 learned the hard way that using Jesus’ name without truly knowing Him has no power. But for the child of God, the name of Jesus is a weapon of victory because we belong to the One whose name we speak. And His victory is final.
Listening Prayer:
Holy Spirit, are there areas in my life that I have been tolerating fear, oppression, or lies from the enemy instead of resisting them?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me authority over all the power of the enemy, as You promised in Luke 10:19. Thank You that Your name is above every name, and that when I call on You, darkness must flee. Teach me to submit fully and walk closely with You so I can live in the fullness of the authority You’ve given me. In Your mighty name, Jesus, I command the enemy to leave. Fill me with Your Spirit, guard my heart, and help me to walk boldly in the authority You’ve given me. Amen.

John 14:12-14
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
Philippians 2:9-11“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
1 John 4:4
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
